On the edge of the Salar Uyuni salt flats in Bolivia is a train graveyard, a rusting reminder of the region's former prosperity now decaying slowly into the desert.

dreaming of steam

The most breathtaking aspect of the Altiplano in Bolivia is the extraordinary sense of emptiness. Old industrial artifacts like this train near Salar Uyuni seem to gaze out over the desert like sentinels of the past.
