I am a PR professional working for Burson-Marsteller in Singapore and specializing in integrated brand communications.
Originally from the U.K. I’ve been in Asia since 1994, when I got an aeroplane for no discernible reason and wound up in Korea. I got my early grounding in formal PR at Burson-Marsteller in Seoul before joining Kia Motors as head of international public relations. In 2004 I got on another aeroplane and left Korea to work for Edelman in Malaysia. My work for Edelman took me back to Seoul in 2005 and then to Jakarta in 2008. In 2010 I returned to Burson-Marsteller, this time in Singapore, as Managing Director, Brand Marketing and Training – a grand title that combines a local role heading the brand marketing practice in Singapore with a regional responsibility for marketing and training for the firm.
During my professional career I’ve worked with clients including Hankook Tire, Standard Chartered Bank, Education USA, Standard & Poor’s, AIG, Temasek and QUALCOMM and Raytheon. I also worked on the international communications for the Korea 2002 World Cup organizing committee.
This branded presence is the latest in a number of attempts to start a blog to write about anything that really catches my attention, but mostly on communications and branding. I like to use my own experience as a failed blogger to remind clients why it’s not always a good idea to start a CEO blog…
Hey Steve, welcome to Jakarta. Fancy catching up for a drink?
Hi Steve,
So now you are back in Singapore.
Hi Harry. Not exactly ‘back’ – this is my first positing in Singapore. Great fun though and it’s nice to be be back at the old firm!
